The Greater Texas Foundation has awarded UNT a $150,000 grant to initiate our Math & Science Teacher Scholarship Program. This program is intended to increase the number of highly qualified math and science teachers in Texas schools with deep subject area content knowledge and continue Greater Texas Foundation’s commitment to remove barriers to education.
Scholarship recipients will receive a minimum of $1000 per semester. Students may receive up to a total of $5000 over the duration of this program.
Students may not simultaneously hold a scholarship through the Math &Science Teacher Scholarship Program and either the Noyce Scholars program (www.unt.edu/noyce) or the Emerald Eagle Scholars Program (essc.unt.edu/finaid/scholarships_emeraldscholars.htm).
What are the Eligibility Criteria?
- U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident alien.
- Must be enrolled full-time (12 undergraduate hours per semester)
- 3.0 minimum overall GPA
- Must have completed 25% of major requirements
- Completion of or enrollment in STEP 1 or STEP 2 courses
- Demonstrate eligibility by completion of FAFSA
The scholarship/stipend program is open to all students who meet the eligibility criteria; students from diverse backgrounds and students with financial need are strongly encouraged to apply.

What are the scholarships dates?

Application Packet Materials
- Applicant Form: Personal data, Academic data, Community Service, Essay, and Contract. Please use a computer or typewriter to complete the form. The character size for all responses should be 12 pt. Check essays for correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Transcripts: Provide current transcripts from each college/ university you have attended.
- Application for financial aid: Apply for federal financial aid and include a copy of all pages of your 2008-2009 Student Aid Report (SAR) www.fafsa.ed.gov.
